Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Developers who plan to build the new ALDI store in Rochester said they hope to open the store by the end of the year.

In May 2015, Jim's Restaurant closed in the North Winton neighborhood to make way for the new store.

A brief walk through the neighborhood near Blossom Road and North Winton Road shows several houses that sit condemned with red warning signs. None of the buildings have been demolished.

Earlier this summer, some businesses on North Winton Road said they blame the empty lot for the recent break-ins in that neighborhood.

A statement released Friday by ALDI Tully Division Vice President Aaron Sumida says ALDI "is working diligently with the local municipalities to work through a few more details on the project."
