Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo is highlighting what she is calling a tax cut in the proposed 2019 county budget.

During a news conference Thursday, Dinolfo said the property tax rate will go down by approximately $0.10 to $8.89 per $1,000 of taxable value. This means that a homeowner with a $150,000 house would see approximately $15 in savings.

"Not only is the tax cut the first in a decade, it's one of the most significant property tax cuts int he last 20 years in Monroe County," Dinolfo said.

While the property tax rate is decreasing, the proposed tax levy will be $394 million, an increase of about three percent year over year.

The proposed budget is scheduled to go before the Monroe County Legislature in December.
