Duke Jupiter drummer passes away

Duke Jupiter drummer David Corcoran has passed away

The Rochester drummer best known for his work with Duke Jupiter has passed away.

David Corcoran played for the band, which gained fame in the 1980s with songs including "I'll Drink To You" and "Little Lady."

Duke Jupiter was famously banned from playing Rochester city-events after an unexpected 25,000 fans came to a show at Ontario Beach Park.

Corcoran and Duke Jupiter were inducted into the Rochester Music Hall of Fame in 2014.

Corcoran battled cancer for the last nine months. He was 64 years old.

His son Jackson is a 13WHAM promotions producer. Coincidentally, he played drums on this week’s 13WHAM prime time special on the Jazz Festival.
