Eastman School of Music embraces major renovations
Rochester, N.Y. - The Eastman School of Music is excited about its nearly $3 million renovations.
Crews will be gutting the upper two floors of the Eastman Community Music School in Messinger Hall.
24 teaching studios will be added, along with a new classroom, a keyboard lab, percussion and drum set studios, and an exterior face lift.
It gives instructors the chance to teach in a central location, in rooms built specifically for teaching music.
“It's a very different experience than being in a tiny room that wasn't intended for that,” said Jamal Rossi, the Joan and Martin Messinger Dean, at Eastman School of Music. “So everything from the acoustics of the room to good quality lighting, it will just really transform the school.”
The project begins in January, with completion set for August, just in time for when school opens in September.
