Family, friends overwhelmed by support from strangers for girl battling cancer
Hilton, N.Y. - The outpouring of support for one local little girl has amazed the family and friends of a 5-year-old girl battling cancer.
Pleasure Lanes Bowling Alley in Hilton held a fundraiser for young Allivea Saturday.
Allivea's fight against cancer has resonated with the community, especially, those who helped out and donated Saturday and didn't even know her!
"The community is amazing," said Tammy Wolf, a family friend. "They just saw it on Facebook. He (Allivea's father) just posted some videos. And they stopped today and said, 'we've seen her videos, we have to do something.'"
"One of the things that we all look at is the fact that she can smile! She can smile through everything that's happened in her life. So we need to do that as well," said Millie Key, Allivea's nana.
Allivea's next step is radiation therapy, which will last about six weeks.
As for the fundraiser, seven bands volunteered to come and play.
