Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - The man arrested in connection to an AMBER Alert investigation in Rochester earlier this month will be charged with federal child pornography crimes.

Robert Gonzalez, 41, was charged with production and possession of child pornography. He pleaded not guilty in Rochester City Court last week to criminal sex act in the second degree and use of a child in a sexual performance, both felonies, and sexual abuse in the third degree, a misdemeanor.

According to court papers, Gonzalez recorded the sexual assault on the victim using his cellphone.

Police issued an AMBER Alert after they said Gonzalez abducted a 14-year-old from LaSalle Street over the weekend. They were found December 4 in Brooklyn; he was brought to Rochester on December 6.

Federal prosecutors said the victim's mother told them messages on her daughter's Facebook account indicated the two were in a sexual relationship.

According to investigators, when forensic investigators looked into Gonzalez's cell phone, they found a number of sexually explicit videos involving the victim that were recorded in mid-November. As a result, he was charged with production and possession of child pornography.

Gonzalez faces a minimum of 15 years in federal prison if he is convicted on the charges. He appeared in federal court Tuesday afternoon.
