Gas prices on the rise as Memorial Day weekend approaches
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (WHAM) - Gas prices are rising as Memorial Day weekend approaches.
According to AAA people filling up their gas tanks are paying the highest price since 2014.
The New York State average is $3.07, higher than the $2.93 national average.
Rochester's average rose 10 cents in the past week to $3.03, only four cents cheaper than New York State's average.
AAA says prices are increasing due to rising crude costs, tighter supply, and a strong demand for gas.
Prices are likely to continue rising through Memorial Day.
Travelers are encouraged to budget their trips accordingly.
AAA Western and Central New York says people can find the lowest gas prices in their area on AAA's website.
