Rochester, N.Y./Gates, N.Y. – A 16-year love of learning is taking a Gates Chili student to the Ivy League.

Meshach Cornelius is heading to Yale in the fall. Tuesday night, he was one of hundreds of local teens awarded scholarships by the Urban League of Rochester.

He’s a busy guy – scholar, musician, and he’s been class president.

“I have my family to thank, the church to thank, all the people at school that’s helped me and so many different people that have supported me to help me get here,” he said.

Meshach has a 97 grade point average. He’s thinking of studying engineering at Yale, and is interested in photonics.
