Gates Chili district mum on superintendent's departure

Kimberle Ward is out as leader of the Gates Chili Central School District - but district officials aren't saying why.

In a letter to district employees this week, Jeff Pettenski, school board president, said Ward is "out of the district." He added that Carol Stehm, associate superintendent for instruction, "will be covering in her absence."

In the note, Pettenski did not say when Ward left or what circumstances were behind her departure.

The district was already in the process of replacing Ward because she had announced plans to retire in June 2019.

Ward left her position as superintendent of the Naples Central School District in 2013 to join Gates Chili. She is a native of Honeoye Falls.
