Groveland man charged with beating father, 70, at home
GROVELAND, N.Y. (WHAM) - A man from Groveland was arrested Saturday after Livingston County Sheriff's deputies said he assaulted his father.
Deputies said they were called to a home on Barber Hill Road shortly before 4 p.m. for a reported domestic incident involving a father and son.
When deputies arrived, they said a 70-year-old man had been assaulted and had serious head injuries.
Owen Lowry, the victim's 31-year-old son, was still at the home when deputies arrived. He was interviewed and subsequently arrested.
Deputies charged Lowry with felony second-degree assault due to his father's age.
Lowry was arraigned and remanded to the Livingston County Jail in lieu of $1,000 cash bail or $2,000 bond. He is also currently on probation in Livingston County.
The father was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital to be treated.
