Perinton, N.Y. - There were some heated moments at Wednesday's town board meeting in Perinton as the topic of the High Acres Landfill was discussed.
The landfill - and a foul odor permeating from it - has been the source of controversy from neighbors.
At Wednesday's Town Board meeting, residents again had a chance to voice their concerns about the landfill.
Also at the meeting was a representative for the State DEC, who said the issue should have been addressed better, saying "The problem's created by Waste Management, but the day-to-day oversight is part of the reason why, for this type of facility, that we have devoted actual resources to be there. So I'm not going to sugarcoat it; we should do better on our end, too."
Waste Management has been given a deadline of April 30 to fix the problem. If the problem is not resolved by then, the town has threatened to suspend its trash intake.
