Heavy winds could make it feel like -25° in western NY
ROCHESTER, N.Y. (AP) -- Wind chill advisories have been issued for much of western New York.
The winter storm working its way up the Eastern Seaboard is expected to spare most of upstate New York on Thursday. But National Weather Service forecasters in Buffalo are warning residents to expect dangerous wind chills from -10 to -25 from late Thursday through Saturday evening.
A wind chill watch will be in effect for Monroe, Wayne, Northern Cayuga, Orleans, Genesee, Livingston and Ontario counties from 10 a.m. Thursday through 6 p.m. Saturday.
The conditions could cause frostbite in as little as 30 minutes to exposed skin, forecasters warn.
