Hilton HS senior injured in deadly crash released from hospital

Hilton, N.Y. (WHAM) - The driver who was critically injured in a crash on June 10 that killed a fellow Hilton High School senior is out of the hospital.

Officials at Strong Memorial Hospital confirmed Friday morning that Brianna Scarpulla, 18, has been released from the hospital.

Scarpulla was the driver of the car that collided with an SUV on Latta Road on Sunday. Paige Smith, the passenger in the car, was killed in the crash.

The driver of the SUV that was hit was released from the hospital soon after the crash. Her name has not been released by police.

The community came together last Saturday to say goodbye during calling hours for Smith. A private funeral service for family was held a short time later.

Friends are expected to honor Paige at the Hilton High School graduation ceremony on Saturday, June 23. The ceremony is scheduled for 2 p.m. at the College at Brockport.
