Thousands gather to raise money for Special Olympics
Rohcester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Thousands gathered at the Walk for Inclusion at Nazareth College Sunday morning.
The Golisano Foundation, Nazareth College students, Special Olympics New York athletes, and Friends of Inclusion walked to raise awareness for those with disabilities, as well as to celebrate 50 years of the Special Olympics.
The main goal is to not only spread awareness, but to raise money for the Special Olympics.
Organizers said the current generation is the right generation to carry on the issue of acceptance.
"One of the best things I've witnessed here today is Nazareth College students, like other college students of their generation - they get inclusion," said Ann Costello, executive director of the Golisano Foundation. "As a matter of fact, when its not inclusive, they question it. I grew up in a different time, but I have high hopes for this generation to include people with disabilities."
