Hamlin, N.Y. (WHAM) - Monroe County Sheriff's investigators are investigating after the bodies of two people were found in a burned-out car in Hamlin Monday afternoon.
Deputies have blocked off a section of King Street for the investigation.
A business owner called 911 after a car was outside behind the building in the parking lot. Deputies arrived on scene shortly after 11 a.m. Investigators said the vehicle had likely been driven to the location late at night.
"The fire was extensive and there is quite a bit of damage to the vehicle, so it's a difficult investigation," said Deputy Chief Michael Fowler with the Monroe County Sheriff's Office.
Monroe County Sheriff's Office is investigating this as a homicide, but have not yet determined if the deaths have been confirmed to be homicides. The identities of the two victims have not yet been determined due to the severity of the burns.
At this point, Monroe County Sheriff's investigators said they are treating this as an isolated incident and no one is in danger.
Yates County K9 units are being brought in to help with the investigation.
Deputies are putting forth an extensive effort to obtain surveillance video in the area.
