Student at Leadership Academy charged in 'sexual incident' investigation
Rochester, N.Y. – Police say they are investigating an allegation of a sexual incident at Leadership Academy for Young Men.
Police say a report about the alleged incident was taken Monday, and that the victim is 14 years old.
The alleged incident happened in a school locker room, according to school officials. Both the suspect and victim are students at the Leadership Academy.
Officers arrested Tyrone Moran, 17, and charged him with endangering the welfare of a child and coercion in the second degree.
On Wednesday night, a robocall from Principal Wakili Moore went out to families with students at the school, assuring them that the district and police are taking appropriate disciplinary action.
"We are working with the students and families involved to help provide the appropriate resources they need," the call said. "While we have no reason to believe any other students are involved in this matter, we encourage you to speak with your children and contact us if you have any concerns."
The Leadership Academy, which is part of the Rochester City School District is located on Lake Avenue at the former Charlotte High School campus.
