Man altered commissary check from $1.77 to more than $3,000: Deputies

    Bath, N.Y. – A Rochester man is accused of altering a commissary check from just under $2 to more than $3,100 – and then trying to cash it in.

    The Steuben County Sheriff’s Office says Brandon Deshawn Baker, 28, was booked out of the county jail in October of last year.

    Deputies say he altered his commissary check from $1.77 to $3,129 and tried to cash it.

    He was charged with forgery, attempted grand larceny and falsifying business records.

    He was remanded to jail on $5,000 cash or $10,000 bond.
