Man pleads guilty to murder for April 2017 homicide
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A Rochester man pleaded guilty to a murder charge Tuesday morning in the death of Melvin White last April.
The Monroe County District Attorney's Office said Michael Mighty, 23, was with two other men on April 17, 2017 when White was attacked and shot outside a club on Central Avenue.
Mighty admitted to attempting to rob White and ultimately shooting him.
"Mighty will potentially spend the rest of his life behind bars for his vicious actions against the victim and is no longer going to be a threat to this community," said Assistant District Attorney Matthew Schwartz, Chief of the Special Investigations Bureau. "It is our hope that with his admission of guilt, Melvin’s friends and family can continue to mourn the loss of their loved one.”
Mighty is scheduled to be sentenced on February 27, 2018. He faces 20 years to life in state prison.
Rosa and Jackson are scheduled to have their cases go to trial on March 5, 2018.
