Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A Rochester man pleaded guilty Tuesday to murdering a woman last August on Lyell Avenue.
Prosecutors said Amari Brown, 23, pleaded guilty to one count of second-degree murder for stabbing Monica Sherman to death.
On July 24, 2017, Brown stabbed Sherman multiple times in the chest behind a building on Lyell Avenue. Sherman died a short time later.
After a thorough investigation of surveillance video, Rochester Police arrested Brown on August 10, 2017.
Under the conditions of his plea, Brown will be sentenced to 17 years to life in state prison.
Brown is scheduled to be sentenced on June 29 in front of County Court Judge Randall.
