Man sentenced for Jerold St. crash that killed passenger
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A man will be serving time in prison for his role in a fatal crash in Rochester back in March.
Luis Ramirez pleaded guilty last month to several charges related to a crash on Jerold Street on March 22.
On Wednesday morning, Ramirez was sentenced to 5-10 years in state prison, including driving while ability impaired by drugs.
Rashad Pearsall was one of three passengers in the car when it crashed on Jerold Street near Northland Avenue. Pearsall was on life support for several days following the crash before he passed away.
Police say they discovered Ramirez had 18 suspensions on his license and his license was suspended at the time of the crash. Police say Ramirez admitted that he smoked marijuana about two to three hours before the accident.
In a criminal complaint, Ramirez told police he remembered stopping at a stop sign and pulling out, and then getting hit.
