Irondequoit, N.Y. - A group of mothers held a protest Wednesday outside the Irondequoit business where a woman claims she was recently shamed for breastfeeding her baby.

About a half-dozen mothers, some of whom were breastfeeding, held mini-rally Wednesday morning at Wilson Dental at the corner of East Ridge Road and Hudson Avenue.

One protester held a sign that read,"breasts feed humans."

The protesters were showing their support for Tiffany Elliot.

"We are here to support moms - having a hard enough time - in a society that doesn't typically show their support for moms," said Claire Labrosa, a protester.

On Saturday, Elliot claimed in a Facebook post that later went viral that she was shamed by dentist Dr. Robin Craig for breastfeeding her nine-month-old baby in a patient examination room at Wilson Dental.

Elliot said Dr. Craig told her she felt uncomfortable and needed to stop.

In a statement, the owner of Wilson Dental apologized for the comment, saying the office completely supports all mothers' right to breast-feed their children in public.

On Tuesday, Dr. Craig shared her side of the story with 13WHAM over the phone.

She said she was abruptly interrupted as she was trying to tell Elliott she was going to step out of the room.

Craig said she was only able to get out the words, “I'm uncomfortable,” before Elliott became irate.
