Music in the air: 16th Annual Xerox Rochester Jazz Festival kicks off

Rochester, N.Y. – The music is playing on Jazz Street and echoing throughout downtown Rochester.

The 16th Annual Xerox Rochester International Jazz Festival is underway. The first of more than 300 concerts started Friday afternoon. Folks even started lining up for the headlining act, Joss Stone, hours in advance.

If you plan on heading down this weekend, you’ll notice some changes in security procedures this year. Metal barriers are being used to block traffic, instead of orange cones. East Avenue and Main Street will be closed from Gibbs to Chestnut, but organizers say all the changes shouldn’t make a difference on people coming out to enjoy the music.

For all things Jazz Fest, don’t forget to check out 13WHAM’s Jazz Lounge!
