New 'Roc the Falls' festival highlights High Falls
ROCHESTER, N.Y. – Rochester’s newest festival will have the staples like music, food and beer, but it will also include an iconic city backdrop – High Falls.
"It will feature the beautiful High Falls, which for far too long, were practically invisible from this park that bears its name,” said Mayor Lovely Warren.
The “ROC the Falls” festival will be held at High Falls Terrace Park on September 7th.
The city worked with Genesee Brewery to improve the park and more upgrades are on the way thanks to funding from the state.
"We are going to highlight this beautiful, but underutilized park and give it the attention that it deserves” said Mayor Warren.
The improvements include updated landscaping, new LED lights and upgrades to the observation deck. The deck will feature an augmented mural from artist Shawn Dunwoody.
"When you stand at a certain perspective it will look as if you're standing on top of the waterfalls,” said Dunwoody. "We're going to make a miniature Niagara Falls tourist spot there, that's what we are doing."
