Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - A father and daughter recalled their frightening coincidence at Rochester General Hospital last fall. New grandpa Mike Digiovanni was looking forward to meeting his first grandchild when he suddenly started to have a medical crisis.

"My son said for about 10 to 15 seconds my speech seemed slurred, and I didn't think much about it," he said.

Digiovanni was having symptoms of a stroke.

Following doctor's orders, he went to Rochester General Hospital for testing at the exact same time and exact same hospital where his daughter was going into labor.

Kimberlee Roberts thought back to that day. "It was hard," she said. "This couldn't be happening."

"The first time we saw each other, she was in labor and I was all hooked up with IVs and went down and saw her for a little while," said Digiovanni.

Despite being frantic and worried about her father, Roberts delivered a healthy and happy baby girl.

The following day, Digiovanni was cleared to go home, but not before making one final, special stop.

"There he was holding his pole and I went up and gave him a big hug," said Roberts. "I was just so happy to see him moving. He looked great, minus the gown - the color of the gown. He looked really good and we kind of laughed about it."

Digiovanni, Roberts and baby Ashlee Lynn are all doing well.
