Batavia, N.Y. (WHAM) - The former Muller Quaker Dairy plant in Batavia has a new owner as of last week.

According to our news partners at The Batavian, HP Hood closed a $54.2 million deal for the plant.

The most recent owners of the property, the Dairy Farmers of America, acquired the property from Muller Quaker in December 2015 for $60 million.

As part of the deal, Hood agreed to take over the obligations of Muller Quaker for the property. The 363,000-square-foot milk processing facility is located in the Genesee Valley Agri-Business Park.

Hood, which is based in Massachusetts, is reportedly planning to add a 100,000-square-foot warehouse. The company promises 250 jobs at the plant, with an average annual salary of $47,000.

Construction is expected to begin this summer, with operations expected to begin in early 2019.
