Man shot on Champlain Street in Rochester
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Police are investigating a shooting on Champlain Street on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers responded to the area of Jefferson Avenue and Champlain Street around 1:05 p.m. for a reported shooting.
Police said the man, identified as 27-year-old James Smith of Rochester, had been grazed by a bullet in the upper body. He was taken to Strong Memorial Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Rochester Police shut down the intersection at Jefferson Avenue and Champlain Street for several hours as part of the investigation.
Clara Barton School No. 2 is located near the shooting scene. The Rochester City School District said the school was placed a lockout for the time being; none of the students were involved in this shooting.
No suspects are in custody at this time. Anyone with information is asked to call 911.
