Irondequoit, N.Y. - Changes are in store for the former Medley Centre site in Irondequoit.

Developers are hoping to transform the site into a community center named Skyview on the Ridge.

Owner Angelo Ingrassia and developers Robert Morgan and Frank Perticone announced the property is now being advertised as prime commercial space. It will not be a mall.

Tuesday, the Irondequoit developer announced plans to offer "flex office space" for light-assembly distribution centers, as well as warehousing or even a day care center.

Crews will clean up the exterior of the building.

"Like many of you in the community, I would drive by this project on my way to work and say, 'Why? Why did this happen? Why is it not moving forward? Why is the Town of Irondequoit getting a bad rep? Why can't this be corrected?'" Ingrassia said at Tuesday's unveiling.

Discussions continue with the Town of Irondequoit to provide 40-50,000 square feet of space for a community center on the lower level. Construction for the new community center is expected to get underway this fall.

The Xerox spin-off company Conduent is moving its call center to the former Macy's, bringing in an expected 750 new jobs.

This all comes more than eight years after the mall closed.
