Police: Canandaigua man arrested for assaulting officer

Canandaigua, N.Y. - A Canandaigua police officer suffered a serious shoulder injury while trying to prevent a man from jumping off a bridge Friday.

Police said Clarence Grover, 32, of Canandaigua was threatening to jump from the West Avenue Bridge around 2:30 pm.

Police said while struggling with Grover, the officer hurt his shoulder and was taken to FF Thompson Hospital.

Grover received medical treatment and was charged with 2nd degree assault, a felony.
