Police: Churchville driver arrested with drugs, license suspended 29 times
PERRY, N.Y. (WHAM) - Police say a Churchville man in facing multiple charges after a traffic stop revealed he was in possession of drugs - and had his driver's license suspended 29 times.
According to Perry Police, an officer was on patrol on April 22 when they noticed Ryan Sharpstener of Churchville driving a vehicle that failed to maintain a lane. The officer pulled Sharpstener over, and found that he had a suspended drivers license.
A further investigation revealed that Sharpstener's license had been suspended 29 times on 14 different dates.
Police say Sharpstener was also in possession of drugs at the time of the traffic stop.
He was arrested for first degree aggravated unlicensed operation and seventh degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. He was also ticketed for failure to stop at a stop sign and failure to keep right.
Sharpstener was arraigned in Warsaw Town Court and committed to the Wyoming County Jail on no bail.
He will return to Perry Village Court at a later time to answer the charges.
