
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) – The Rochester Police Department made an arrest in a homicide that happened early Sunday morning.
Officers responded to Orchard Street around 2 a.m. for reports of shots fired. Responding officers located a large crowd and a deceased male in the roadway, according to police.
The victim was identified as Duane Quamina, 31, of Rochester. AMR responded to the scene and attempted life saving measures.
Police arrested Craig Stanford, 26, of Rochester Sunday afternoon.
Stanford is charged with Murder in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Weapon in the 2nd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 3rd Degree, Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance in the 7th Degree and Criminal Use of Drug Paraphernalia in the 2nd Degree.
Court papers state Stanford shot Quamina with a .380 caliber semi-automatic handgun. Documents also state a search of Stanford's residence turned up more than two grams of fentanyl, a baggie of crack cocaine, two digital scales and unused baggies.
Stanford pleaded not guilty at his arraignment Monday.
