Police: Manager stole $6,000 from Victor restaurant, employees
Victor, N.Y. (WHAM) - An Irondequoit man was arrested Wednesday after police said he stole thousands of dollars from a Victor restaurant and its employees.
State Police said 38-year-old James Demetreu stole more than $6,000 through multiple debit card chargebacks while working at the six50 restaurant.
Chargebacks usually return money to a customer or reverse a previous transition. Demetreu allegedly returned the money to his personal bank account.
Demetreu is also accused of taking several employee checks and depositing them into his personal bank account.
Management at the restaurant in Victor confirmed his employment was terminated several months ago.
Police charged Demetreu with felony grand larceny 3rd, felony falsifying business records 1st, and felony scheme to defraud 1st.
Demetreu was arraigned in Farmington Town Court and was remanded to Ontario County Jail in lieu of $3,000 bail.
