Police: Officer narrowly avoids head-on collision with drunk driver

    Police say Matthew Beaumont was driving drunk when he almost caused a head on collision with an officer. <br>

    Perry, N.Y. (WHAM) - Police say two Perry Police officers on routine patrol were almost hit head on Saturday by a drunk driver.

    In an effort to avoid the collision, the officer left the roadway. Police say once he regained control of the car, he performed a traffic stop on the car.

    Officers said 28-year old Matthew Beaumont of Castile was found to have been driving with almost twice the legal limit of a BAC of .15 percent..

    Beaumont was charged with Driving While Intoxicated, reckless driving and was also ticketed for refusal to take a breath test .He is expected to return to court at a later date to answer the charges.
