Police: Skimming device found at Canandaigua pump may have been there six months
Canandaigua, N.Y. – Canandaigua Police believe a card skimming device discovered in May could have been implanted in a pump nearly six months prior to its discovery, and that it could have captured thousands of transactions.
The skimming device was found May 20 at the A Plus Mini Mart on South Main Street in Canandaigua.
Police say it may have been inside the pump as far back as November 2017, and that more than 2,000 transactions at the pump may have been captured.
Police are asking anyone who used Pump #1 at the station to contact investigators, so they can determine if your personal information was found on the device.
Anyone affected by this update is asked to contact Detective Mastracy at PJM@canandaiguanewyork.gov or Sergeant Lawrence at 585-337-2106.
