RPD: Fernwood Park house hit by gunfire, vehicle involved flees, crashes into tree

Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester police say a house on Fernwood Park was hit by gunfire and that the vehicle involved in the shooting then crashed into a tree while attempting to flee.

Police say they were called to Fernwood Park around 5:50 p.m. Thursday for the report of shots fired.

Once on scene, they discovered that a house was hit and a vehicle was involved.

According to police, the vehicle attempted to flee on Walbar Street, but the driver lost control and hit a tree.

This caused the vehicle to become disabled. Police say that's when the occupant fled the area on foot.

A search was then conducted around the area. The occupant of the vehicle has not been found.

Police say no one was injured from the gunfire or the crash.

Police say they do not believe it was a random act.

The investigation is ongoing.
