South Bristol home destroyed by fire
A golf cart may be to blame for a fire that destroyed a home overlooking Canandaigua Lake early Sunday morning.
A neighbor spotted a structure burning on Longs Point Drive in South Bristol, Ontario County around 5:30 a.m.
When crews arrived, the property was fully engulfed, according to Naples Fire Chief Patrick Elwell.
"Most of it was already gone at the time," he said.
The preliminary investigation shows the blaze began in the garage. An electric golf cart, which was stored in the garage, may be the cause behind it, Elwell said.
The home was vacant as it is a seasonal property, he said.
This fire comes nearly two weeks after a major fire on County Road 33 in South Bristol. The bodies of sisters Pamella M. Osinksi, 68, and Vicky D. Todd, 74, were found inside the destroyed home on Nov. 29.
The investigation into that fire and their cause of death continues.
