Rochester, N.Y. - Rochesterians looking to get out of town and head to Florida during the colder months will have more options starting in February.
Monroe County Executive Cheryl Dinolfo announced Wednesday that Southwest Airlines is offering non-stop flights to Fort Myers, Florida on select Saturdays.
On February 16th, February 23rd and March 2nd, Southwest is offering flights from Rochester to Southwest Florida International Airport. Scheduled departing times are at 11:25 a.m., though those are subject to change.
On those same Saturdays, there will be flights from Southwest Florida International to Rochester at 3:15 pm, which are also subject to change.
Dinolfo says this all adds up to about 400 seats.
“Southwest Florida is one of the most popular winter destinations from ROC and we are grateful that Southwest Airlines continues to invest in this growing market with more direct-flights to Ft. Myers,” said Dinolfo, in a statement released Wednesday. “Southwest’s expanded seasonal service will provide more options, moreseats, and more non-stop flights for local snowbirds and vacationing families getting away to enjoy the Florida sun during winter recess. There’s no doubt our ROC Renovation Project is already generating more and more excitement about our airport, which will help us attract more visitors and more jobs to our community for years to come.”
