Police: Lyons man dead after being beaten with 2x4

Troopers say 32-year-old Martin Smallwood of Lyons was arrested and charged with first degree manslaughter and first degree assault.

Lyons, N.Y. (WHAM) - State Police say a man is dead and another is in custody after the two got into a fight in Lyons Saturday night.

Troopers say 32-year-old Martin Smallwood of Lyons was arrested and charged with first degree manslaughter and first degree assault.

According to police, Smallwood got into a fight with 42-year-old Camilo Robledo, also of Lyons, in the rear parking lot of a garage located at 43 Water Street at 5:30 p.m.

During that fight, it is alleged that Smallwood hit Robledo with a 2x4 wooden board multiple times.

Robledo was taken to Newark-Wayne Hospital, where he died of his injuries.

Smallwood was arraigned and will be remanded to the Wayne County Jail without bail.

The investigation into the incident is ongoing.
