State Police: Steuben County woman issued $38,000 in fraudulent personal checks

BATH, N.Y. (WHAM) - A Steuben County woman is facing multiple charges after police say she issued fraudulent person checks throughout the area.

According to State Police, 26-year-old Erica Bacon of Bath was arrested on December 13 following an investigation into an alleged bank fraud case occurring in Steuben County.

Bacon allegedly issued approximately $38,000 in fraudulent personal checks to multiple people, businesses and government entities throughout the area. She then reported her checks to her bank and State Police as being stolen and fraudulently cashed by another party.

Bacon has been arrested and charged with third degree Grand Larceny, first degree Scheme to Defraud, six counts of Offering a False Instrument for Filing, and Making a false Written Statement. She was arraigned in the Town of Bath court and released on her own recognizance.

She will appear in court again on January 3, 2018.
