Town of Greece issues coyote warning
GREECE, N.Y. (WHAM) - The Town of Greece is urging residents to be aware of coyotes.
Greece Town Supervisor Bill Reilich released a statement cautioning Greece residents to be careful when letting their pets outside.
Reilich issued the warning after receiving calls from concerned residents.
“Our Town of Greece Department of Animal Control is fully aware of the sightings and provides educational information to residents that address their concerns," said Reilich.
Pets are typically a target for coyotes, specifically cats and small dogs.
The Town of Greece is recommending residents keep their pets under close supervision, check that there is no available source of food for coyotes to get into, and make noise when they see a coyote to chase it off.
The town says to call 911 if immediate assistance is required.
