Gates, N.Y. – Gates Police have arrested two people after a melee ensued during a concert at the Diplomat Party House over the weekend.
Yamil Maldonado, 39, is accused of firing multiple rounds inside and outside the Diplomat. Police say he was not legally permitted to carry the gun.
Maldonado was taken into custody by the Rochester Police Department SWAT team and the RPD Tactical Unit on Tuesday. Police reportedly found an illegal shotgun in his home. He has been charged with reckless endangerment and criminal possession of a weapon.
According to court paperwork, Maldonado had been escorted out of the Diplomat after a fight. The criminal complaint states he came back to the venue with a loaded gun and began shooting recklessly in the parking lot. He then allegedly went inside and fired a round at patrons. The bullet hit a wall in the main lobby. Maldonado allegedly fired his gun a second time as he was leaving, hitting a gazebo near the parking lot.
He was remanded to jail without bail due to his predicate felon status.
Police also arrested Isaac Dominguez-Gomez, 26, for second degree riot and disorderly conduct. Investigators say he took part in a large fight in the venue.
He was issued an appearance ticket.
Police say 400 people were in the venue when a fight broke out and spilled into the parking lot. They say at least five shots were fired inside and outside the building. Two people were hurt.
Gates Police say they are looking for a second shooter. Anyone with information on the case is asked to call the Gates Police Department.
