Rochester, N.Y. - Rochester police say one man is in guarded condition and another is in satisfactory condition after both were shot on Jefferson Avenue Monday night.

The call came in around 11:00 p.m.

Police shut down part of the road between Ruff Alley and Bartlett Street for hours Monday into Tuesday morning.

Officers said 43-year-old Leonard Clark remains at Strong Memorial Hospital in guarded condition; Maurice Chatman, 37, has been released from the hospital. Both of the men are from Rochester.

The shooting appears to have happened outside. Investigators say they believe someone else shot the two men; they were not shooting at one another.

It's unclear what led up to the shooting.
