U of R investigation to be completed by mid-January 2018
Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - The investigation into a federal complaint against a University of Rochester professor will be completed by mid-January.
An announcement made Wednesday by the Special Committee of the University of Rochester’s Board of Trustees said the law firm reviewing the complaint will complete its investigation by early January and issue the full report no later than January 12, 2018. The full announcement, made in a letter, can be read here.
The investigation is focused on allegations against Dr. Florian Jaeger, in an Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) complaint. Eleven students and faculty members accused him of stalking, pressuring students to share drugs and have sex and creating a hostile environment. Another federal complaint is also accusing the University of Rochester of performing a shoddy investigation into the allegations once they first came to light last year.
Jaeger was placed on leave in mid-September after the EEOC complaint became the center of national attention.
Mary Jo White, the attorney whose law firm was commissioned by the university to conduct the independent investigation, said her team has been working with more than 115 current and former students, faculty and administrators.
If anyone has any information relevant to this investigation, they should contact White at (212) 909-6996 (firstname.lastname@example.org) or Mary Beth Hogan at (212) 909-6996 (email@example.com). Witnesses who have come forward and want to remain anonymous will not be identified by name in the public report.
