Rochester, N.Y. (WHAM) - Veterans from the Rochester area gathered Wednesday morning to learn about different services available to them throughout the community.

The 'Veterans Stand Down' event at the Harro East Ballroom brought men and women together organizations with services including housing, health care, and legal assistance.

Organizers said it is important to give this opportunity to veterans and provide all the services in one place.

"A lot of people are not aware how many providers in the community are dedicated to serving vets and what all they offer," said Laura Stradley, director of the Veterans Outreach Center. "So it can get a little confusing when you’re trying to navigate it yourself, I think. So to put everybody together makes it a little easier.”

Nearly 40 local service providers were on hand to meet with the veterans.
