The Wayne County Sheriff's Office has arrested a couple from Clyde, alleging the woman left her 3-year-old with her boyfriend knowing he was intoxicated.

Kaitlyn Zimmerman, 22, and Rodrigo Morales, 25 have been charged with Endangering the Welfare of a Child.

The Sheriff's Office claims that after midnight on August 1st, Zimmerman called 911 for help and hung up - and that when called back, Zimmerman denied she had called and hung up.

Deputies say they came to the home and found Morales walking nearby. They say he ran from them when spotted, leaving the 3-year-old alone and Zimmerman unaccounted for. Deputies say they found Morales to be in possession of cocaine and also charged him with Criminal Possession of a Controlled Substance.

Patrols continued to search for Zimmerman. They say she eventually drove by the house and was stopped a short distance away. Deputies arrested her saying she knew Morales was intoxicated when she left her son with him.

The child has been turned over to a family member.
