Woman sentenced to 22 years in prison for sexual abusing child with boyfriend
Canandaigua, N.Y. (WHAM) - The woman who pleaded guilty to sexually abusing two children with her boyfriend was sentenced to 22 years in prison, according to the Ontario County District Attorney's Office.
Janiet Simonds, 27, was sentenced Thursday on two counts of criminal sex act 1st, one count of sex abuse 1st and one count of promoting an obscene performance of a child.
Simonds pleaded guilty in June to four lesser charges after originally being charged with two counts of predatory sexual assault.
Her sentence includes 22 years of post-release supervision.
Simonds' boyfriend at the time of the abuse, Tristan Mayes, sexually abused a one-year-old girl and six-year-old boy. State Police said from March 2015 and June 2016, Mayes took video and still images of himself engaging sexual contact with a one-year-old girl. Simonds was accused of engaging in sexual contact with Mayes while the children were abused.
In March, Mayes was sentenced to 30 years to life after being convicted of two counts of predatory sexual assault against a child. The sentence was imposed as 15 years to life, with each of the two counts being served consecutively. He is currently serving the sentence at the Clinton Correctional Facility.
