7-year-old alerts neighbors of apartment complex fire
A boy from Owasso, Okla. and his dad are being called heroes.
The duo sprung into action, like any first responder would, to help contain a fire at their apartment complex.
"I was taking my dog for walk when I saw the fire," said seven-year-old Hayden Cain. "It just got bigger and bigger, it was scary."
Despite the fear, he leaped into action. He ran to his dad for help, who then called 9-1-1.
"They told me to start warning the neighbors of what was going on until they got there," said Christopher Cain.
Hayden and his dad worked to contain the blaze while fire crews were on their way. Hayden also went door-to-door, letting his neighbors know about the blaze. He also grabbed as many fire extinguishers as he could to help put out the fire.
"I'm very proud of him, he was a great help," said Christopher. "He showed great responsibility and character. I even took him to get a treat afterwards as a reward."
While it might have been a scary moment for any other seven year old, for Hayden, it's something he hopes to do in the future.
"I've been having dreams of being a firefighter or a cop," said Hayden.
