Man convicted in deadly attempted robbery on Ludwig Park
Rochester, N.Y. – A man has been convicted of second degree murder in connection with a deadly 2014 attempted robbery in Rochester.
Jonathan Ortiz, 21, was also convicted of attempted robbery and two counts of criminal possession of a weapon. He faces a minimum of 15 years in prison, and a maximum of 25 years to life.
Prosecutors said Ortiz and Trevon McKinnon. 22, tried to force their way into a Ludwig Park home on November 24, 2014. They said both men fired guns at the front of the house. Jamal Chester, 31, was shot three times and died at the scene.
Ortiz is scheduled to be sentenced next month.
