Henrietta, N.Y. – RIT confirms a case of mumps has been detected on campus.

The college said earlier this week that there was a suspected case of the contagious illness; Thursday, the school confirmed the individual had contracted the illness.

The school’s student health division has been on contact with people who came into contact with the individual and are asking anyone who experiences symptoms to come forward.

Mumps cases have been appearing in our area recently. This week, SUNY Geneseo announced a total of 14 students had been diagnosed with the illness, in addition to another individual in the county.
