Henrietta, N.Y. - A RIT student was hit by two cars in Henrietta around 2:45 a.m. Saturday.

The Monroe County Sheriff's Office says Christopher Clemens, 21, of Maine was walking east on Bailey Road near John Street when he was first hit by a vehicle heading eastbound.

The driver of the first vehicle, Franklin Lew, 64, pulled over as soon as he hit Clemens.

Clemens, who was laying in the road, was then struck by a second vehicle driven by Bridget Avery, 20, of Michigan.

Clemens was then dragged a short distance and remained trapped under Avery's car.

Henrietta Fire Department extricated Clemens who was then transported to Strong Memorial Hospital with life threatening injuries.

Avery, another RIT student, was found to be intoxicated and was arrested for DWI.

RIT released this statement February 13:

Members of the University staff have been in contact with his family to offer our support and assistance. In addition, we are outreaching to others in our community to connect them to resources on campus, as needed.

We are also concerned about the second student involved in this incident.
