Speculation over new Bills stadium picks up again
Orchard Park, N.Y. (WHAM) - Talk about a new stadium for the Buffalo Bills is resurfacing again in Orchard Park.
New Era Field, formerly Ralph Wilson Stadium, is now 45 years old. The current lease requires the Bills to play there for five more years.
At the NFL owners' meeting Wednesday, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said the team owners appear to be thinking about a new stadium.
"I know they are focused on this," Goodell said. "They're looking at how they address these issues long term. But I think those [answers] are better coming from the Pegulas, whenever they are at the point at which they want to share that with the community. I think they are at the very early stages."
In March 2017, Bills co-owner Terry Pegula downplayed the talk about a new stadium.
The current lease is set to expire in 2023.
